From defending networks to defending models
I'm Ahmed Alderai — an ICT Security Specialist with 13+ years in InfoSec across the financial and telecom sectors, now focused on AI safety and adversarial testing of large language models.
My career began in the trenches of security operations and compliance — penetration testing, incident response, digital forensics and detection engineering for organisations where downtime and data loss are not options. I learned security the way it sticks: on real incidents, under real pressure.
Over the last few years my focus has shifted to the security of AI systems. The same instincts that find a foothold in a network find a jailbreak in a model. I now build and run loom, an in-house model-evaluation platform, on dedicated RTX PRO 6000 compute — and I research adversarial robustness, prompt-injection defence and the kind of testing the EU AI Act now expects.
I hold both Irish Stamp 4 residency and a UAE Golden Visa, I've spoken at the Arab Security Conference, and I've completed an MSc in Computer Science on AI-driven security. Above all, I like hard problems where security and machine learning meet.
How I work
Evidence over assertion
I test, measure and reproduce. A finding I cannot demonstrate is not a finding.
Defender mindset
Years of incident response and red-teaming taught me to think like the attacker so I can protect the system.
Build, don't just advise
I ship tools — loom, evaluation harnesses, detection content — not just slide decks.
Calm under pressure
Breach calls across many time zones teach you to stay precise when everything is on fire.
